n8n workflows that keep running after you stop watching them

This course gives you ten n8n workflows that use AI for real jobs, such as sorting email and summarising meetings, each built with error alerts so a failed run reaches you before a customer does. You learn to read the data between nodes, adapt each workflow to your own tools, and check what every run costs.

The course is in production. Joining the list is free, and you only pay if you buy at launch, at the early-bird price.

If this sounds like your week

  • You imported a template and it stops partway through, with an error that does not say which node failed.
  • You find out a workflow broke when someone asks why the leads stopped coming in.
  • You spent an evening fixing a mismatch between two nodes and still do not know why the fix worked.
  • Zapier charges by the task, so the bill climbs every time your volume does.

What you do now, and where it stops working

Today you piece it together from free templates, video walkthroughs and forum threads. Each template was built for someone else’s tools, so it needs rework nobody explains, and nothing tells you when a workflow quietly stops running.

What changes after the course

  • n8n running in the cloud or on your own server, and you know what that choice costs you each month.
  • Ten workflows you have run yourself, each doing one named job.
  • A message to your email or chat whenever a run fails, and a daily check that flags a workflow that has stopped running.
  • You can open any node, read its input and output, and fix a mismatch without guessing.

How it works: Run, read, break, alert, adapt

  1. 1Run: import a finished workflow and watch it work end to end on test data before you change anything.
  2. 2Read: trace the data through each node’s input and output until you can say what every field is.
  3. 3Break: break it on purpose with an expired credential, a missing field and an empty AI reply, so you recognise each failure when it happens for real.
  4. 4Alert: connect the shared error workflow and the stopped-workflow check, so silence never passes for success.
  5. 5Adapt: swap in your own tools and data, and decide where an AI step earns its cost and where a plain rule does the job for free.

What you get

  • Ten importable n8n workflow files
  • Setup guide for self-hosted and cloud n8n
  • Prompt library used across the workflows
  • Error handling template
  • Video walkthrough of every workflow

This is for you if

  • You installed n8n, or are about to, and want working AI workflows instead of a blank canvas.
  • You are moving off Zapier or Make because per-task pricing grew with your volume.
  • You automate your own work or your own business.

Skip it if

  • You want to start an AI automation agency or sell workflows to clients. This course does not teach selling.
  • You want automation with nothing to maintain. n8n makes you the owner of credentials, updates and failures.
  • You already ship production code with tests. The early material will feel slow.

Before you join

Is this another AI automation guru course?
No income claims and no agency pitch: it is ten workflow files, the walkthroughs, and a method for keeping them running. It is taught by Jay West, who leads DevOps for the marketing organisation of a multi-location specialty retailer, where keeping integrations and automation running is the job.
Do I need to code?
No. Some steps pull a field from an earlier node with a short expression, and the course explains each one where it appears. You will learn to read the JSON that passes between nodes, because that is what most beginner fixes come down to.
What will it cost to run?
Two costs: hosting, either an n8n cloud plan or a small rented server (one r/automation user reports around $10 a month for self-hosting), and AI calls, which the model provider bills per use. The course shows you how to read the cost of each AI step before you switch a workflow on.
What if it breaks while I am away?
Every workflow ships connected to an error workflow that messages you when a run fails. The course also adds a check for workflows that stop running without any error, such as after a credential expires or a webhook changes, because those are the failures that go unnoticed for days.
Should I self-host or use n8n cloud?
The course sets up both and states the trade. Cloud means no server to maintain. Self-hosting costs less at volume and keeps your data on your own server, but updates and backups become your job.
